An Effective Concealment For Scars
Head scars are particularly challenging to live with as they are often significant in size and highly visible. Following a hair transplant, many people often find themselves trapped, unable to cut their hair short, but lacking in enough density to hide their scars from surgery. Here at Scalp Micro Portugal, we understand your anxiety and have procedures available to conceal your scars by as much as 90%.
As with all scalp micropigmentation procedures, when camouflaging scars we implant tiny pigment deposits to replicate shaven hairs, however scar concealment requires experience and specialist skills. Scar tissue can be complex to work with. The site can be uneven and melatonin levels are often drastically different from the surrounding healthy skin.
It is our training and education which sets us apart, as we have a deep understanding of the physiology of skin and it’s anatomy, meaning we can ensure your scar will be expertly concealed.

Scar Types
There are many reasons why people carry scars with them, and all types of scars from head trauma, neurosurgery and burns can be camouflaged. The majority of scars we treat however are a result of hair transplant surgery.
There are two main hair transplant methods, follicular unit transplantation (FUT), often referred to as the ‘strip’ method, and the more modern follicular unit extraction (FUE) method, evidenced by multiple ‘dot’ scars in the donor area.
Scalp micropigmentation is the number one treatment for camouflaging scars, including those from both FUT and FUE harvesting methods. The level of camouflage depends on many factors, therefore we provide an estimate of the level of concealment during your free consultation. Most important of all is the need to choose an SMP technician with significant experience in this specialist area, in order to achieve the most successful outcome.
